JASON KNIGHTMAN

Basic Facts
Thank you, reader, for taking the time to learn about me.
My given name is Jason Hoogervorst, but I chose a pen name of Jason Knightman for my fantasy writing in order to have something more easily remembered and searchable by fans and followers. However, if I should ever write non-fiction of any kind, I do plan to author that using my given name. I am in my fifties and have had four significant relationships of any length, one of whom became a husband in 2018, although we are separated at this time.
I live in central Texas, but I have traveled extensively during my lifetime so far – 6 other countries and almost 30 states. I had an almost 26-year career in the hotel industry before the oncoming sunset of my department after a buyout changed that trajectory. I was able to shift gears and devote time to writing for a while. Life has presented a few hurdles here and there, but so far, I have been quite lucky with circumstances and the kind support of family and friends.
I enjoy bowling, gaming (board, card, video, and RPGs – particularly D&D, Pathfinder, and White Wolf systems,) crochet, and, oh yeah, duh, writing! I love cats and hope to be successful enough one day to obtain a Savannah. I have been graced with two cats so far, a tabby named Oliver, and a Siamese named Snoops, and both were rescues who chose me as their lifetime human. Literally – each time I went to select one, they were the only ones to acknowledge, speak, and reach out for me during the occasion.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
First, of course, I thank my family and friends for their presence in my life and their support. Individual thanks go out to Mrs. Siegman, a former high school teacher and ongoing mentor; Jim Vogel, and Edgar Brown, both longtime friends, for their extra contributions to my writing journey, as well as my late Uncle Frank, whose kind consideration of me in his will allowed me the last bit of funds necessary to push me over the finish line and become published.
GREATER MOTIVATIONS
Behind all of that, I am more of a humanist/spiritual believer in God, eschewing dogmatic bible-thumping and its attached baggage for a more compassionate and positive-oriented mindset. My start in religion is thanks to my mother, who introduced me to The Christward Ministry, also known as Questhaven, a leader in Christian Mysticism, and they present a belief set which I feel offers a complete and non-contradictory perspective that is sorely needed, and fervently desired, by many of us in these United States who have become tired of the negativity committed in other church’s names.
As the beliefs learned here fuel aspects of the unseen and unexplained metaphysical cosmology of my fantasy universe, feel free to explore for yourself at Questhaven.org if you want to know more of what drives my writing. They have an extensive library of books written by the main founder, Flower A. Newhouse, worth reviewing. Those fortunate enough to live in or visit the San Diego, California, area are also invited to visit in person.
Veladris keep you,
Jason Knightman
